Through the generosity and vision of Author Kaia Alderson and the partnership of Fort Valley Native Chelita Greenlee (Founder of The Parents' Advocate), the "We Believe In You Scholarship Fund" will afford one aspiring screenwriter (per session) the opportunity to study at a free or reduced tuition rate.
Kaia Alderson is a comedy and fiction writer based out of coastal Georgia. Her forthcoming novel, Soldier Girls (2021), is a historical women's fiction novel about the 6888th Postal Battalion, the only US Army unit of African-American women to go overseas during World War II. Other recent publications include romantic comedy novella Calling Her Bluff and comics short stories in Ladies' Night Anthology volumes 4 and 5. She has performed with Atlanta-based 2 Girls 3 Eyes improv group and is an alumna of Spelman College. Kaia has studied writing with the Hurston/Wright Foundation, The Second City and Voices of Our Nation (VONA) workshop.
Founded by STEM Scholar, Chelita Greenlee, The Parents' Advocate is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to support parents, caretakers, and legal guardians of school age students through training, consultation, political mentorship, emotional support through mentorship and financial literacy. Our objectives will enrich and empower communities throughout by fostering positive relationships between parents, teachers, and students. The Parents' Advocate is grounded in their mission, "To empower parents to be catalysts of change for the betterment of children."
